Year 12 community service

September 16, 2022
Dean of Year 8 and HSIE Teacher - Ms Amanda Lokys

Year 12 had the privilege of visiting the Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation on Wednesday 14 as the final activity for their community service together as a year group. The Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation was selected by Year 12 in 2021 as the community organisation that the year group wanted to contribute to and work with during their final year.

Since that time Year 12 have been raising funds for the organisation and the visit this week enabled our students to continue to build connections between our School and the Coomaditchie community. Year 12 were welcomed to country by Aunt Lorraine Brown and were invited to contribute to an artwork that is being prepared for the Wollongong Art Gallery to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Coomadicthie United Aboriginal Corporation.

Year 12 students and staff were invited to add their handprint to the work to demonstrate the growing connection between TIGS and the Coomaditchie community. This artwork will be displayed in 2023 at the Wollongong Art Gallery.
