About the Hoskins Family
The Hoskins Building has been named after Arthur Sidney Hoskins and Helen Madoline Hoskins who donated land for the establishment of the Wollongong Botanic Gardens. Their former family home, Glennifer Brae, was the site of SCEGGS, the girls school which combined with The Illawarra Grammar School in 1976.
Overall Winner: Australian Timber Design Awards
The Hoskins Building was named the Overall Winner of the Australian Timber Design Awards in 2026, as well as taking out the Public Building category.
In a field that included major developments such as the Sydney Fish Market and The Cutaway at Barangaroo, the recognition places this building as one of Australia’s most celebrated contemporary timber building projects.
