Beach safety through the eyes of young artists

September 15, 2023

In the coastal Illawarra region, where the beach is an integral part of life, ensuring the safety of our youth is paramount. While numerous campaigns have tirelessly worked to promote beach safety, we at Coastal Awareness Safety adopt a proactive and positive approach. Our mission is to empower primary school children with the knowledge and skills required to safely enjoy our coast.

With this commitment in mind, we proudly introduce the Junior School Art Competition, an innovative and engaging platform for young minds that is focused on beach safety. This initiative seamlessly combines the creative talents of children with crucial beach safety messages, inspiring not only the participants but also their coastal communities to embrace a culture of safety and enjoyment at the beach. Together, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness, ensuring that our young beachgoers can revel in the beauty of our coastline while staying safe.

The Junior School Art Competition is open to Kindergarten to Year 6 students and challenges young artists to create an informative artwork while emphasising beach safety. Whether it’s a drawing or painting, submissions should be handed into the Junior School office by the end of Week 10, Term III. There are two age groups: Kindergarten to Year 2 and Year 3 to Year 6, and don’t forget to include your name and year group on your artwork!

As an exciting incentive, there’s a fantastic prize awaiting the most outstanding artwork! Winners will be announced Week 1, Term IV. We can’t wait to see your creations!
