The Illawarra Grammar School is proud to unveil the Hoskins Building Project, an exciting initiative to enhance learning spaces for both Junior and Senior students.
At the end of 2024, the current H Block at Illawarra Grammar will be demolished, making way for the new Hoskins Building, which will house Junior and School classrooms, a lecture theatre, a STEM lab and a Junior Library.
The Hoskins Building will be built to international PassivHaus standards to minimise energy consumption and environmental impact:
- Energy Efficiency: The building will consume approximately 90% less energy for heating and cooling compared to the current campus buildings
Sustainable Construction: The building will be built from mass timber. The structure and timber façade store around 1,200 tons of CO2, contributing to the building’s sustainability from the beginning
Green Roof: This feature increases biodiversity and enhances the campus landscape.
Principal, Dr Julie Greenhalgh, said: “The Hoskins Building Project represents our ongoing commitment to providing modern learning environments that prioritise rigorous academic learning opportunities and prepare our students for the future. This new space will foster innovation, collaboration and excellence. It is an exciting step forward for our School.”
To further engage the community, TIGS Foundation has launched the “Take a Seat” initiative, offering donors a chance to name a seat in the new lecture theatre.
