Welcome Back Year 3 and Year 4

May 22, 2020
Head of Junior School - Ms Geneva Clayton

It was so great to have Year 3 and Year 4 students return to the Junior School this week!  We all agree that our school is just not the same without our students and that they fill the space with spirit, energy and joy. This week we welcomed Mrs Clair Sheppard who resumed responsibility of 4Y as Ms Ashley Young commenced Maternity Leave. Mrs Sheppard is an experienced primary school educator who comes to us from Shore Preparatory School in Sydney, where she held the position of Pedagogical Coach and classroom teacher. Mrs Sheppard is a former TIGS graduate and is very excited to have this opportunity. We thank Ms Young for all that she has done for our school and her students and wish her all the best as she prepares for the birth of her first child.

We are looking forward to Year 5 and Year 6 students returning next week. Students are to return in their full winter uniform, with appropriate haircuts. Please be reassured that the health and safety of our community remains a priority. Our School will continue to conduct temperature checks upon arrival, sanitisation will be required, students will be reminded to wash hands frequently and any student presenting with illness will be sent home immediately. At this stage, staff members are the only adults to be present on the Junior School campus. We look forward to a time when parents and visitors can join us on campus and thank you for your patience, support and understanding until this time. As much as we are keen to return to our ‘normal’ Junior School routine, please understand that this will not happen immediately. As you know, our risk practices are relying on the advice of New South Wales Health and the Australian and NSW Government. We will continue to keep you updated as advice is received.

Have a wonderful week

Reminders

Professional Learning Day and Student Pupil Free Day – Cancellation

Our transitioning of all students back to full onsite learning by the end of next week has meant that the PD day, planned for Friday 5 June, has been cancelled. We are keen to avoid any additional disruption to student learning and the normal week-to-week school routines we are keen to reestablish.

The extraordinary PD day held in Term I has now taken the place of this Term II PD day and the published dates for PD days in Term III and Term IV will remain in place, dates unchanged.

Car line

With all students returning to campus on Monday, our Car Line will return to cater for our whole Junior School community. Students in Kindergarten will be released just after 3.00pm. The remainder of the Junior School will conclude at 3:05pm. If your child is not in Kindergarten, please do not enter the zone and wait at 3.00pm. Please also understand that if your child is not ready to be collected, you will be directed to go around the circuit to ensure the smooth running of the collection process. We thank you for your cooperation.
