Preparing for the UCI Road World Championships

May 13, 2022

In your letter box this week was communication from  Wollongong City Council regarding this world class event to be hosted in Wollongong.

TIGS is planning for the event and changed traffic conditions around our region and will be providing further details and updates in the coming weeks.

We are very excited as three TIGS families are integral to the organisation and running of the event. I look forward to sharing more information about this in future newsletters, to set the scene here are a few details:

Wollongong will host the 2022 UCI Road World Championships between 18 – 25 September.

More than 1,000 of the top international cyclists from 70+ nations will compete for a gold medal and the coveted rainbow jersey. It is one of the top five sporting events in the world and is watched by more than 300 million viewers around the globe.

Our school will be hosting a bike immersion day in August as part of the lead up to the UCI event in the Junior School.

It will be an event unlike anything Wollongong has ever experienced and an opportunity for us all to be involved in this world class event.
