AICES Open Hockey

On Wednesday 11 March, five of our students played for the NASSA Hockey teams at the AICES Open Hockey Carnival. The students involved were Poppy Townsend, Angus Townsend, Connor Harvey, Liam Harvey and Riley Baird. While both teams were unsuccessful in most of their games, they represented our school in a commendable manner, always being positive, polite and giving 100% effort. They are to be congratulated on their efforts. A particular congratulations goes to Connor and Liam Harvey, who were selected in the AICES team.

Special thanks to our outgoing Year 12 student Connor, who has represented TIGS, NASSA and AICES for many of the past six years. He has been a great role model to our younger Hockey players.

Also special thanks to Mrs Baird, who accompanied our students to Newcastle for the Carnival.

CIS Girls Football Cup

On Thursday 12 March, TIGS Open Girls Football Team travelled to Thomas Hassal Anglican College (THAC) to compete in the Second Round of the CIS Girls Football Cup for 2020. With both teams having a bye in the first round, this was the first chance for them to show their muster in the competition.

TIGS dominated the possession and goal-scoring opportunities early in the game, taking a 1-0 lead after the first five minutes with a goal from Jaimie De Lutiis, who finished well after a great run from Molly Buikstra.
TIGS girls extended this lead to 3-0 with two great goals from Anastasia Grozdanov. THAC was able to come back with a goal from a fast-break just before the end of the first half, taking the score to 3-1 at half-time. TIGS came out firing in the second half, piling on the goals with some excellent finishing. TIGS scored 10 unanswered goals to win the game 13-1. Particular congratulations go to Zoe Dribbus and Charlotte Wall, who scored five and three goals respectively.

It was a fantastic effort from TIGS, who not only played exceptionally well, but were outstanding ambassadors for the school, playing the game with excellent sportsmanship.
