One big happy Junior School family

October 29, 2021
Head of Junior School - Ms Geneva Clayton

It was with great energy that we welcomed the remainder of the Junior School back this week. It was fabulous to see the genuine excitement as students across the school reconnected with their peers and teachers. Whilst some things look slightly different; our playground spaces have been carefully divided with distinctive coloured labels around our buildings to assist students to learn routes, and a multitude of sanitiser is available for easy access. One thing that remains the same is a sense of community as our students very easily transitioned back into their class routines and learning.

IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Evaluation

One of the unique points of difference in our Junior School is the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). The programme itself provides an inquiry rich framework that ensures that learning is deep and meaningful through a tapestry of excellent pedagogy and practice. Students describe their love of the Units of Inquiry as they are encouraged to learn about the world and take meaningful action that will make a difference to our community and beyond.

This week we look forward to a virtual visit by external examiners who will evaluate our PYP programme and provide suggestions for future development. We excitedly anticipate their feedback as we plan for further improvements to enhance our offerings. Part of the process does involve parent participation and I thank those that completed the survey and those who will speak to the external examiners next week. We look forward to sharing the insights shortly.
