NSW CIS Cup Football TIGS vs Cranbrook School

It was a terrific performance by the TIGS Open Boys Football team in the 1st round of the NSW CIS Cup, played at Sir Ian McLennan Oval on Wednesday. After a tough opening 30 minutes, in which TIGS dominated much of the possession, scores were locked at 0-0 and it looked as though an upset was likely against 2017 Champions, Cranbrook School.

A lapse in concentration and a deflected shot saw the TIGS team trailing 0-2 at half time. The team dug deep and rallied at the start of the 2nd half and created some goal scoring opportunities, with Junho Cho and Christian Vujic narrowly missing chances to score. Unfortunately, Cranbrook scored twice towards the end of the game.

The final score, a 0-4 loss did not represent what was a tightly fought contest.

Special mention must go to Year 12 players, Cooper Kerridge, Edan Fedder, Zac Birch, Nathan Molnar, Daniel Grieve and Luca Martiniello who played their final game for TIGS and have represented the School with distinction for many years.

Despite the loss, the team should be very proud of their performance.
