Approaching the end of year

Week 6 is drawing to a close and we are now in the second half of term with the end of the school year hoving into view. Every week is a busy week at TIGS, but the number of events taking place in the run up to the end of the School year regularly takes things to another level. On Friday evening, our farewell event for Mrs Judi Nealy will be taking place, commencing at 5.30pm. The event promises to be a wonderful way for members of TIGS community past, present and future to reconnect and celebrate the achievements and contributions of our outgoing principal during her 17 years at the School.

Between Monday and Wednesday of Week 7:

• Year 9 students will visit Mount Kiera to undertake scientific explorations,
• Year 10 students will attend ‘Courage to Care in the Classroom’ at Wollongong Art Gallery,
• Year 12 will attend a study skills seminar,
• Students in Years 7 to 9 will continue their preparation and training for next year’s da Vinci Decathlon,
• Students with a passion for the arts will travel up to Sydney to visit the Art Gallery of New South Wales for ‘Art After Hours’,
• Students involved in the 2024 Production will attend the first of the long season of after-school rehearsals that will be ongoing from now, right through to late in Term II next year!
• TIGS students from across the Junior and Senior School will perform to an audience of family, friends and teachers in a Vocal Concert and,
• Exceptional sporting achievements will be recognised and celebrated at our annual Sports Presentation Evening.

As the promise of a long break from learning begins to manifest, it is really important that students continue to play their part in maintaining the wonderful culture and relationships we enjoy at TIGS. Parents and carers can support them in this by continuing to ensure that uniform is worn in line with expectations.

Students should not travel to, or from, School in their sport uniform unless they have a Sports lesson or have been given explicit permission for any other purpose such as attending an excursion or competition. Students should not wear jewellery whilst at school and boys should be clean shaven with hair kept above the collar and ear. Specific details can be found on OLLE or at the front of student diaries.

Ensuring these simple expectations are maintained until the end of term will ensure staff and students alike can make the most of the activities ahead and finish the year in alignment with smiles and joy.
