Talented Learners
Many students at Illawarra Grammar are exceptional and successful in more than one area. Not only are these students extended in their classes, many of which are streamed, but there is a range of rich cocurricular opportunities which allow them to explore their talents beyond the day-to-day curriculum.
Extra Tuition
We offer regular after school assistance from teachers in the School Library, in the form of Tuition Hubs. A regular schedule of assistance is advertised and students are able to meet with a teacher from a particular subject area and get one-on-one assistance. On Saturdays, we regularly have high-achieving Alumni available to provide academic tuition to students in Years 10 to 12 in the Library.
Library
The Library is a cheerful and happy space in the School, and many students meet their friends for productive time before, during and after school. The Library is open 8.00am – 5.30pm. On Saturdays, during term time, the Library is open from 9.00am – 2.00pm for students in Years 10 to 12, with optional tuition provided in Mathematics, Music, Chemistry and Physics from high-achieving university students.
The Library staff includes a librarian who specialises in research techniques and strategies, enabling students to access expert advice to support their referencing, research and academic writing.
