Welcome to The Illawarra Grammar School
Everything you need to know about Prep is covered in this helpful handbook, available when you click “View Now”. Learn more about what to expect, what to bring, what your child will be learning, child care subsidy and more.
All new students are invited to attend our Prep Readiness Session (Orientation) from 2.00pm-3.00pm on Tuesday 27 January 2026. As the child has not commenced enrolment, a parent/guardian is required to stay for this session. It provides an opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the space and the educators prior to starting sometime after Day 1 of Term I (Thursday 29 January 2026).
Term I commences on Thursday 29 January 2026.
To support a smooth transition, all students will attend shortened hours of 9.30am – 12.30pm for their first full week of attendance.
For example, if your child is enrolled to attend on Wednesdays and Fridays, they will attend half days on Friday 30 January and Wednesday 4 February, before attending full days from Friday 6 February.
- A water bottle, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea (afternoon tea not needed during first week)
- A spare set of underwear and clothing
- A school hat every day
We are a ‘Nut Aware’ school therefore we kindly ask that no peanut butter or products containing nuts, such as Nutella, are sent in children’s lunchboxes.
Please make sure everything is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Fees for our Prep (The Piper Centre) are billed through HubWorks. Please enrol with HubWorks as soon as possible by clicking here. Students can not commence until this has been completed.
To enrol your child at an Early Learning Centre, it is compulsory to provide an up-to-date Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Statement. Please email to enrolments@tigs.nsw.edu.au
At Prep, we use the Kinderloop platform to manage communication. Please complete this form and return via email to enrolments@tigs.nsw.edu.au
Our students wear their uniforms with pride and are expected to maintain high personal standards of presentation.
The Uniform Shop is operated by Perm-A-Pleat and located at 2 Marshall Rd, Dapto NSW 2530.
Booking an appointment is recommended for new student fit-outs in January. Book an appointment here.

All children must be signed in on arrival and signed out on departure. We use an electronic sign in/out system, with iPads located next to the Administration Office. Please ask for assistance if you are having trouble logging on or accessing your details.
PICK UP
Parents are welcome to collect their child from Prep anytime before 5.30pm, but we strongly encourage arriving before 2.30pm or after 3.30pm to avoid the Junior School pick up congestion.
Junior School (Kindergarten-Year 6) carline operates between 3.00pm – 3.40pm. If you need to pick up your child up during this time please use one of the three 5-minute parking spots available in the Junior School car park. It is likely you will experience congestion so please plan accordingly. Once car line concludes further parking is available along the walkway.
The stacked car parking outside TIGS Prep is reserved at all times for staff only. We thank you for not parking in these allocated spots.
Please notify The Piper Centre if you are unable to collect your child by 5.30pm. Children not picked up by 5.30pm will be supervised by Piper Centre staff and a late fee will apply.
There are two “Staff Only Days” during the year in which Prep will be closed so staff can participate in professional development.
-
- Friday 5 June 2026
- Monday 20 July 2026

The final day of 2026 will be Wednesday 9 December 2026. Prep will be closed during the Summer holidays, with Pre-K 2027 commencing in Term I 2027.
Students in Prep at Illawarra Grammar can order their lunch from the Canteen. We use the FlexiSchools app for online lunch ordering.
Students interested in music tuition and performance are welcome to join Illawarra Grammar’s Music Academy.
Specialist tutors provide weekly lessons on a range of instruments to our students; a full list is detailed in the application form below. The lessons are held in our dedicated music tuition rooms during the school day, with some tutors offering before and after school options. There is also a range of ensembles for students.
We ask any families wishing to participate to complete the online application form.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Music Academy Coordinator, Ms Rowena Harris, via email if you have any questions regarding the Tuition Program: musicacademy@tigs.nsw.edu.au
