The Illawarra Grammar School’s Stage 3 Tennis Team has been crowned State Champions in the Todd Woodbridge Cup, an outstanding achievement following months of competition across district, regional, and state levels involving more than 10,000 students across NSW.
Travelling to Parramatta for the State Finals on Monday, 10 November, the team displayed exceptional skill, resilience, and teamwork throughout the day. After remaining undefeated in the pool stage, TIGS advanced to the quarter-finals, where they faced their biggest challenge. Trailing 3–1 early, the team demonstrated composure and belief, switching to mixed doubles and coming together to win all four matches to secure a 5–3 victory. That remarkable turnaround became the defining moment of their campaign. The players carried their momentum and team spirit into the semifinals, winning 6-2, and delivered another strong team performance in the final, winning 6–2 to claim the State Title.
This achievement showcases not only their on-court skill but also their sportsmanship, strategic thinking, and teamwork. Well done to our players and coaches on a truly inspiring day for Illawarra Grammar Tennis.
