Head Prefects

Yasmin Matar

House: Wolgal

Illawarra Grammar has given me many opportunities to grow, lead and give back, and as Head Prefect, I’m honoured and excited to continue doing just that. I’m passionate about youth advocacy as a member of the NSW Youth Parliament and value giving back to my community through volunteering locally and training younger debaters. At Illawarra Grammar, I’ve enjoyed pursuing my academic interests and love of sport through da Vinci Decathlons, Mock Trial and representing the School in netball. I look forward to working with the leadership team to build an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

Robbie Lavelle

House: Wolgal

Since Year 7, I have immersed myself in various academic, sporting and performing arts opportunities, ensuring I make the most of what The Illawarra Grammar School has to offer. Representing the School in sport, competing in Community Problem Solving, da Vinci decathlon and public speaking competitions and participating in multiple school productions, has helped to develop my character and expand my interests. Outside of School, I have a passion for basketball and soccer, which I have taken up for the past twelve years, and has helped me to live a balanced lifestyle amongst education. With the privilege of being elected as a Head Prefect, I am excited to collaborate, encourage and serve my peers.

Deputy Head Prefects

Charlee Ducat

House: Kogara

I am incredibly honoured to serve as Deputy Head Prefect and have immense faith in the 2026 leadership team and our shared commitment to strengthening and inspiring The Illawarra Grammar School community. Throughout my time at Illawarra Grammar, I’ve been driven by a passion for amplifying student perspectives. This has been reflected in my work establishing The Student Voice and afterschool Volleyball, and participating in Mock Trial, Debating, and the da Vinci Decathlon. Beyond School, I’ve had the privilege of representing youth perspectives through the NSW Youth Parliament and expanding my global outlook with The School of The New York Times journalism program.

Rhys Chieng

House: Wolgal

With a heavy focus on all facets of the school experience, I would consider myself an all-rounded learner, excelling in academics within School whilst balancing extracurricular activities offered such as Orchestra, Community Problem Solving and da Vinci Decathlon. Outside of School, I enjoy tennis, sprinting and playing the violin. I look forward to working with the Prefect team to help contribute to our growing school community.

Chapel Prefects

Grace Russo

House: Wolgal

Having had the privilege of attending Illawarra Grammar since Junior School, I am honoured to give back by serving as Chapel Prefect in 2026. During my time at Illawarra Grammar, I have enjoyed participating in all aspects of school life, including sports, cocurricular activities and community service. As I take on this role, I aim to foster a welcoming and supportive school community and to encourage others in their growth of faith.

Isaac Turner

House: Wolgal

As Chapel Prefect I will aim to foster an environment where faith can be explored and where spiritual growth is abundant. Within School, my favourite subjects are Mathematics and Music.  I have always strived to participate in as many cocurricular activities as possible such as Orchestra, Podium Program, Athletics/Cross Country Training, Cricket, Surfing, Choir, Brass Ensemble and Production. In my free time, I play cricket for the Corrimal Cougars and play the trumpet with the City of Wollongong Youth Brass Band.

Sports Prefects

James Murray

House: Kogara

I’m very grateful for the opportunity to serve Illawarra Grammar as the 2026 Sport Prefect alongside Jazmine and Bella. I will try my hardest to listen to the voices of my peers and adapt to any sporting changes in School. During my time at School, I have been privileged enough to compete in sporting events such as CASA, Athletics, Cross Country, and all swimming events at the school level. Additionally, I competed at a national level for Snowboarding and Skiing events for a consistent six years.

Isabella Carswell

I’m so grateful to be chosen as a Sports Captain at The Illawarra Grammar School. I’m excited to serve our school community by supporting students to grow in their sporting endeavors. With the experience of representing the School in netball, athletics and other teams, I look forward to making a positive impact in increasing participation in our school sports.
