2026 Swimming Carnival

Feb 10 2026

Senior School Swimming Carnival

The Illawarra Grammar School’s Senior School Swimming Carnival, held on Monday 9 February, was a wonderful celebration of House spirit, participation and athletic achievement. Despite a wet and rainy start to the morning, the enthusiasm of our students never wavered. By early afternoon, the skies had cleared, setting the scene for an exciting final round of races and strong finishes across all age groups.

What stood out most on the day was the exceptional level of participation across all Houses. Students embraced every opportunity to be involved: racing in events, filling relays and cheering with genuine enthusiasm from the side of the pool. This wholehearted engagement, coupled with positive encouragement and friendly rivalry, created a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere from start to finish.

House Results:

This year’s competition was incredibly close, with only 26 points separating first and second place. Final standings were:

  1. Kogara – 2,582 points
  2. Wolgal – 2,556 points
  3. Aranda – 1,674 points
  4. Coligan – 1,654 points

Congratulations to Kogara House for securing the overall win in what proved to be one of the tightest carnivals in recent years.

Records Broken:

The carnival also saw four impressive records broken, highlighting the depth of talent within our school:

  • London Campbell delivered an outstanding performance in the 15 Girls’ 100m Freestyle, breaking a long-standing record previously held by Olympian Emma McKeon, with a time of 1:02.79
  • London continued her exceptional form in the 15 Girls’ 50m Breaststroke, setting a new record of 36.83, exceeding the previous mark by more than two seconds
  • Max Eccles broke the 13 Boys’ 50m Backstroke record, finishing in an excellent time of 36.13
  • The Kogara Senior Girls 4 × 50m Freestyle Relay Team (Lucy Lidbetter, Xara-Jade McCrimmon, Mackenzie Tregonning, Tia McCrimmon) produced one of the standout highlights of the day, smashing the previous record by 15 seconds, with a new time of 2:03.80.
