St Nicholas Day

Year 9 French students celebrated St Nicholas Day recently, the holiday is the traditional feast day of St Nicholas of Myra, the inspiration behind Santa Claus. Traditionally celebrated throughout the French Low Countries, students ate another traditional French Christmas favourite, the Bûche de Noel. This cake is shaped like a Christmas log, which were once burned on Christmas Eve, however once fireplaces became less common the log moved out of the fire and onto the table.
