Junior School celebrates the Library

November 10, 2023

Recently in the Goodhew Research Centre (Library), students celebrated International School Libraries Month.

The theme this year was “The School Library: my happy place where creativity and imagination flourish”. Mr. Green asked Early Stage One and Stage Two students: What is the best thing about our School Library? Stage Three students considered: Why is our School Library important?

Students wrote their answers on coloured shapes to create two displays in our library. Distinct themes emerged amongst the hundreds of enlightening responses, which focused on the need and our right to access information, a love of reading, and a valued sense of belonging. One student said “our School Library is important because it is like a home, you are safe to share your imagination and thoughts. You can also read other people’s ideas”.
