Never too young to make a change in the world

As Greta Thunberg has shown, you are never too young to make a change in the world. With climate action becoming a greater priority among world leaders, our students added their voices to the conversation at the National Future Problem Solving Championships in the Community Problem Solving Division. 

Robbie Lavalle in Year 7 achieved first place with his project “Plastic Steps”. Robbie created an indepth research and promotion campaign with the aim of reducing plastic waste. A longtime advocate for sustainability, having been involved in Environmental Clubs since Primary School, Robbie stated “At TIGS I wanted to truly lead a great impact in the best future we can hold together, to be passed through a tunnel for the next generation” 

 

Anastasia Popovska in Year 8 achieved second place with her project on bioprinting organs for those in need of transplants. Inspired by the TRICEP initiative at the University of Wollongong, Anastasia tackled a major problem affecting thousands of people around the world. 

The Team Division: Lucas Alexander, Bella Carswell, Yasmin Matar, Aahan Rakheja and Isaac Turner achieved second place with their project “Small Business Heroes”, assisting small businesses through Covid.

Both Robbie and our Team have been invited to compete at the international competition in America in 2022, congratulations to all participants on a fantastic result.
