We wish the best of luck to TIGS alumni and superstar athlet

July 23, 2021   General

We wish the best of luck to TIGS alumni and superstar athlete Emma McKeon as she swims for gold in the Tokyo Olympics.

Emma is already a 4-time Olympic medalist and holds a number of national and international records in the pool. But her rise to great heights has not been without its setbacks. You might not know, but in 2012 Emma just missed out on a spot in the Australian squad for the London Olympics. Then 17 years old, she was ready to walk away from the sport for good. Her brother David and training partner Jarrod Poort were both selected to represent Australia in London and while traveling to watch them compete, she was inspired and reinvigorated to achieve her dreams.

With incredible determination and dedication she returned to training. Within two years she was setting new records and winning gold. At TIGS it is our sincere wish that all of our students go on in life to achieve their own version of greatness. The pursuit of excellence is not always an easy path, but together as a School and a community we can inspire each other to succeed.

Emma is competing in multiple events over the next few days, you can catch her first race in the 100m Butterfly heats at 8:28pm, Saturday 24 July.
