
The Right Rev. Peter Hayward
Peter Hayward is Anglican Bishop of Wollongong in the Diocese of Sydney and the Archbishop of Sydney’s Representative on School Council. He is a graduate of the University of New South Wales in Civil Engineering, and also of Moore Theological College.
After his ordination in 1992, as an assistant minister, Peter founded a church in the new housing area of Glenmore Park in Western Sydney. In 1996 he moved to Spokane in the State of Washington in the USA and became the founding Rector of an independent Anglican congregation known as Christ the Redeemer. In 2001, Peter moved back to Sydney where he became the rector of St Bede’s Beverley Hills with Kingsgrove Anglican Church. While Rector of Beverly Hills with Kingsgrove, Peter was involved in six congregational plants.
Peter has served as Bishop of Wollongong since 2010. He is married to Julie and they have three adult children and eight grandchildren.
