Mrs Taesha Duley-Smith
Mrs Duley-Smith is the founding Director of TIGS Prep and is an accomplished educator and leader, with a comprehensive knowledge of early childhood pedagogy and curriculum. Her career has spanned close to 30 years, 25 years as a Centre Director. Mrs Duley-Smith holds a Bachelor Education in Primary Teaching, Diploma Education in Primary Teaching, Cert 111 – Children’s Services and Cert 1V – Training and Assessment.
At the heart of Mrs Duley-Smith’s approach is a commitment to embracing the sense of wonder, curiosity and creativity of each child; to support the abundant potential of all children, as they are given opportunities to question, play, explore and develop their confidence as learners, while they make meaning of their world.
Mrs Duley-Smith has been influenced by the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy that recognises the Hundred Languages of children and develops each child as a knowledgeable and capable learner. Since her first study tour to Reggio Emilia, Italy in 2008, She continues to be a member of the Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange and the Eastern Suburbs Reggio Emilia Information Exchange Network Provocation Group. These platforms inspire her to think deeply about pedagogical practice within Australian educational settings in response to the provocations of the educational projects of the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
Mrs Duley-Smith’s ongoing desire is to immerse herself in rich collaborative professional learning experiences to connect and exchange ideas, research and advocacy in Australian educational settings. Her role is to challenge and provoke thinking in realising the importance of education for children in the early years and the accompanying responsibilities for educators in acknowledging this demand.
