With the appointment of Mrs Judi Nealy (previous Deputy Headmaster/Head of Junior School) to the position of Head of School, TIGS is now seeking to appoint a new Head of Junior School.


The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS) is a well-established co-educational Anglican International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. TIGS educates students from Pre-Prep to Year 12, with pathways to both the NSW Higher School Certificate and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
 
The position of Head of Junior School exists to ensure best practice in pedagogy and a holistic approach that caters to the needs of all students. Head of Junior School is responsible for the day to day management and long term leadership in the Junior School. The Head of Junior School plays an integral role in promoting and delivering the School’s Mission and Values and in working towards achieving the Strategic Plan as a key member of the Head’s Executive leadership team.
 
Knowledge of International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), would be an advantage.

The position of Head of Mathematics exists to ensure best practice in pedagogy and the provision for the academic and intellectual needs for all students. Heads of Department are required to manage the team in the department they lead as well as be part of the Senior School pedagogical leadership team. They must be supportive of a Pre-Prep to Year 12  perspective, support school management at all levels and demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the School’s Christian framework, values and ethos.

 
We are seeking to appoint an experienced secondary school educator who can demonstrate:
 

  • Recent experience in teaching Mathematics across Year 7 to Year 12
  • Enthusiasm for their subject and the ability to inspire secondary age students
  • The flexibility to work with a range of student abilities
  • The ability to articulate and model knowledge of recent developments in the theory and practice of senior secondary pedagogy and specifically how this applies to their subject area
  • Leadership in curriculum development and implementation of new syllabuses
  • The ability to use data to inform the practice and programmes of the faculty
  • Highly developed communication and collaboration skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the Mathematics and other departments.
  • Experience in leading and managing staff, WHS and budgets
  • Confidence in the use of technology and a willingness to embrace it to enhance learning in the BYOD classroom.

Knowledge of International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) would be an advantage.
This is a Permanent/Full-time Leadership Level 2 position.
