Parents and Friends
TIGS P&F warmly welcomes all families to connect and be a part of our vibrant community
TIGS Parents and Friends (P&F) is an important group within our School, encouraging families to belong and get involved in our school community. The P&F offers opportunities to play a role in school events such as the annual TIGS Great Fete. It is also a great way to contribute to conversations between home and school, parents and teachers as we value the unique perspective of each community member.
Mrs Joanne Danckwardt
Joanne has been P&F President since 2015 and previously served on TIGS Foundation Board. She enjoys introducing new families to TIGS, assisting them to establish themselves and become active members of the School Community. As a Licensed Real Estate Agent, Joanne is dedicated and committed to servicing clients’ needs, and uses her proven track record, market knowledge, and excellent negotiation skills to achieve great results. Joanne has been able to experience the pleasure of seeing her son grow and progress through TIGS from Prep through to his current Senior Year.
Mrs Melanie Silburn
Melanie has two children at TIGS and has been involved with the P&F since 2015. Having started out as a new parent to the Illawarra and to TIGS, Melanie understands how daunting it can be for new parents and ensures everyone is welcomed with open arms. She works locally at a tier one recruitment organisation as the Executive Manager for their Wollongong office and is well known in the local business community.
Mrs Jennifer Evans
Jennifer has been a part of TIGS community since 2017 and is herself a TIGS Alumna. She welcomed the opportunity to give back to the community at TIGS by taking up the role of P&F Treasurer in 2017. As of 2020, Jennifer will entrust the high school education of her two children to TIGS. Jennifer has spent much of her career in the IT industry and she has a penchant for numbers and efficient systems and processes which she applies to industry, the community and home.
Mrs Dominee Bentley
Dominee became part of the School community in 2014 when TIGS welcomed the first of her two children. Since then she has been a friendly and helpful presence at the school. Dominee enjoys being involved in events, especially when her professional baking skills can be put to good use for the benefit of the school community. She is passionate about supporting the school in its Strategic Vision and core values. Dominee considers community involvement to be essential to the health of the school and her organisational skills and helpful nature are a great asset to the P&F and the school community more broadly.
TIGS Community is a Flourishing part of school life, supporting and encouraging the next generation of TIGS Alumni.
Over the past 60 years, TIGS Alumni have taken the benefits of their leading education all around the world. Alumni are invited to re-connect with the School so that they can find out about upcoming events including reunions, subscribe to publications and share their journey with us since leaving TIGS.
TIGS Foundation consists of TIGS Community members committed to giving their time and resources in a voluntary capacity, for the benefit of our children, premises and school community. Foundation Boards exist in almost all private schools. They traditionally have a long history and are embedded in the fabric of the schools’ being. TIGS Foundation is just that, starting in 1986 and providing great work such as the building of the IGC and parts of the Goodhew Research Centre (Library).
Community Business Directory
The School community at TIGS is made up of a diverse mix of families who are involved in many areas of business across the Illawarra and beyond. The Community Business Register allows current and former parents, alumni and others with a direct connection to TIGS to list their company details and promote their business to the School community. All proceeds from Community Business Register listings are invested back into school facilities by TIGS Foundation, creating further educational opportunities for our students.
