Mission and Vision

Our Purpose

The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS) is a co-educational Anglican school, working in partnership with families to provide an exceptional education founded on Christian faith and values. Each student will personally experience the highest standard of teaching and learning to achieve the best academic outcomes.

The commitment of all staff to every student’s wellbeing, and the genuine care provided, enables each child to realise their full potential. TIGS students are well-rounded, skilled and articulate young men and women, who are equipped and confident to make a positive contribution to society.

The Illawarra Grammar School aims to nurture and educate young people in accordance with the doctrines, tenets, beliefs and teachings of the Anglican Church Diocese of Sydney.

We seek to educate each student to realise their full potential in all of their gifts and abilities. The School fosters rigorous teaching practice to deliver excellent learning outcomes. We offer a broad curriculum, adopting a holistic approach to each student’s learning.

  • Provide a cohesive programme of learning from Pre-Prep to Year 12

TIGS is an Anglican school that actively promotes the value and relevance of the Christian faith among the whole school community. The Bible is our ultimate source for faith and life. This is reflected in the relationships, curricula and activities of the School.

  • Promote an understanding of Jesus and the Christian faith
  • Experience authentic Christian community where Christian ministry has a prominent presence
  • Demonstrate that the caring, compassionate student experience at TIGS is founded on a Christian belief
  • Integrate a Christian worldview in all aspects of curricular and co-curricular activities.
  • Provide opportunities to engage in Christian service and stewardship

We are a school that cares for each individual. This in turn fosters a culture where students care for each other and the wider community, expressed in practical and thoughtful ways. This is foundational to the provision of a nurturing and safe environment that engages students, staff, and school community as they grow, learn, and mature.
